Causes of Ankle Pain

25+ medical conditions may affect your ankle muscles, joints, bones or nerves. Some common conditions causing pain are:

  • Achilles Tendinitis

The achilles tendon connects the calf muscle with the heel. This condition occurs due to overuse of the tendon generally in sports such as basketball, football, etc.

Treatment is managed either conservatively (without surgery) or by surgery (Reconstruction). In both cases, physiotherapy is very important to regain strength, range of motion, and daily life functional activities.

Complete rest is generally recommended and with online physiotherapy, you can get treated from the comfort of your home.

  • Plantar Fascitis (Heel Pain)

Plantar Fasciitis occurs due to inflammation of the thick tissue (Plantar Fascia) which connects your heel with the toes. It feels like a stabbing pain that occurs with the first steps in the morning. It usually occurs with homemakers who spend more than 2-3 hours standing daily.

The condition may become chronic if not managed early and physiotherapy helps in reducing the symptoms as well as strengthening the tissue and decreasing the inflammation and pain.

Generally, this condition is treated across several weeks and hence, online physiotherapy makes it convenient to consistently adhere to the treatment from the comfort of home.

  • Flat Foot

Flat foot generally occurs during infancy or due to some injuries to adults. A flat foot leads to improper distribution of body weight on the ankle area leading to pain after excessive usage.

Physiotherapy helps in reducing the pain, strengthening the muscles and foot flexibility. Patient education and reassurance regarding postures have worked wonders.

Online physiotherapy is effective & convenient mode of treatment as Children/old people are generally dependant on their families for taking them to the clinic.

  • Bunion

A bunion occurs due to a few bones in the front portion of the foot moving out of place causing the tip of your big toe to get pulled towards the other toes. This leads to a bony bump at the base of the big toe.

It’s best to avoid narrow tipped footwear that forces all your toes to stick together to minimize the chances of developing a bunion. Physiotherapy can help with decreasing inflammation and pain in the area.

With online physiotherapy, you can have a hassle-free treatment experience. (No Travelling/ Parking/ Waiting Time)
